Features & Events >> Knaresborough to York Run

The time had arrived for the annual YSA Knaresborough to York rideout  and thankfully the weather was with us (albeit windy and a tad cool). We arrived at Knaresborough about 12-15 having set off late after the odd 'non starter' at Ripon and the car park was already looking quite full. We squeezed in to a space, parked our scoots and had a good mooch about admiring the many Lambretta's and Vespa's on display some of which were pretty amazing. It's always nice to see some old mates and catch up on gossip and also nice to meet new folks too and there seemed to quite a few this year. The usual clubs were there from all over Yorkshire but also some from outside of the county which is a compliment to the Yorkshire scooter scene, cheers lads and lasses!

It was nearly time for 'lift off' so I decided to wait part way up the hill and get some snaps as everyone left and this is the first time i'd done this in years, gotta say the 'buzz' was fantastic, stood wathcing and breathing in all that 2 stroke mix, aaaaaargh  scooterists heaven!  The first few hundred seemed to leave within a couple of minutes and almost became a blur as some (nay, most) raced up the hill to the lights bezzing past faster than Suggsy sups a pint (well almost). After about 15 mins the majority of scoots had left the car park so I trundled back to my scoot where the odd breakdown was getting attention.

Well all in all a brilliant sight watching all the scoots leave Knaresborough and a great buzz too, hope they all got there and back safely.
Until next time, ride safe folks.
